%X In view of the investigation on the mechanical properties, such as yield stress, microhardness,especially of the phenomenon that the above properties deviate from the normal Hall-Petch relation, several interpretations concerning this abnormal effect were reviewed in this paper. It was indicated that the strength or hardness of nanocrystalline materials depends on the interfacial defective structure, the interfacial excess energy and the interfacial excess free volume.
