%X Interface reaction and interface structure of SiC-Ni coated fibre reinforcedaluminum composites and their effects on mechanical properties of the composites havebeen studied.Fracture of the composites under the given interface condition has beenanalysized.It is shown that reaction between the fibre and matrix can been effectively con-strained with SiC coating which keeps the composites high strength in spite of serious inter-face reaction between the coating and matrix.Also,fracture mechanism of the compositeswith the coating has been discussed.
