%X The axial and lateral compressive resistance of aluminium alloy tube are in-creased obviously after the winding of carbon fiber on its external surface.Especially for thetube with large length-to-radius ratio,its flexural resistance under axial load and itscompressive resistance after flexural deformation are all improved obviously.The experimentalcomparison was made between circular tubes of LY-11(solid aluminium alloy)with and with-out the external winding of carbon fiber.A theoretical critical compressive strength of circulartube without external winding was presented.Finally,the strengthen mechanism of externalwinding was also analysed.
