%X The major problem encountered during the development of polymer electroluminescent devices is the stability of the devices,which have attracted much interest due to their potential application in wide fields.The polymer P 10 is constructed into single layer thin film electroluminescent devices as ITO/P 10 /Al.Some degradation sources of the devices have been investigated,such as deterioration of polymer P 10 ,variation of interface structure at polymer layer/metal electrode and the effect of metal electrodes on device performance.It is found that the oxygen in the air and thermal effects have severe influence on the stability of the polymer film,the oxygen released from ITO can substantially damage the conjugated luminescent polymers,and the bubbles generated at polymer layer/metal electrode result in the appearance of dark spots on electroluminescent region of devices during the operation.
