Based on the shoot module level, a comparative analysis was made on the plant branching pattern and biomass allocation of M. micrantha growing in Acacia confusa community and Miscanthus sinensis community. The results indicated that there was a significant variation between the two populations. The branching numbers, branching density and branching ratio of every level branch in A. confusa community were lower than those in M. sinensis community, but the average length of individual branch was longer. The number of primary branches was dominant in A. confusa community, but in M. sinensis community, that was secondary branches. Ratio of blade biomass allocation and characteristics of morphology such as leaf area ratio, specific leaf area and specific stem length of Mikania micrantha shoot modules in A. confusa community were higher than those in Miscanthus sinensis community. While there was no significant difference of length of internodes and specific petiole length of M. micrantha shoot modules in the two communities. The difference of response showed the different sensitivity of shoot module properties to environment changing. %K Mikania micrantha %K Shoot module %K Branching pattern %K Biomass
