%X Much work has been done in the field of global carbon cycle for about forty years. The latest progress in the study on the terrestrial and oceanic feedback to the continuous increase of atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration and the change of climate is introduced in detail. Many ways of carbon fixation are also discussed in the article, which may mitigate the negative effects of human activities. In addition, the future trend of global carbon cycle study is also addressed in this paper. Since the earth has been seen as a system, synthesis studies of carbon cycle have been made and will be developed further in the new century.
