%X Genetic relationship among White Hair and Black Eyes (WHBE) rabbits, Japanese big ear rabbits and New Zealand rabbits were analyzed with randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) technique. Ten random primers were used to amplify genomic DNA of rabbits with PCR methods. On the basis of preliminary experiments, eight primers were selected to analyze the genetic variation among 3 rabbit lines. 107 amplified fragments were detected by electrophoresis on agarose gel. Among them, 32 fragments were polymorphic, accounting for 29.91% of the whole. It was showed that the RAPD polymorphisms among rabbit strain lines were abundant. The results of the statistical analysis of RAPD bands of rabbits showed that the genetic similarity between WHBE rabbits and Japanese big ear rabbit was 0.7948, which was the highest among 3 rabbit strain lines. Four primers among 10 random primers could not only amplify the common DNA bands of 3 rabbit strain lines, but also amplify the different characteristic bands of them. The amplified band patterns showed that there are both genetic similarities and genetic variations among WHBE rabbit, Japanese big ear rabbit and New Zealand rabbit. Thus, the RAPD technique could be used as a method to monitor genetic relationship among different strains and different individuals of the same strain of rabbits.
