%X The chief historiographical idea of Song historian Professor Xu Gui is to lay emphasis on practical work without any empty talk. He has inherited and developed the Chinese traditional history research method to combine theoretical and textual research with literary techniques. He has gained distingushed achievements in his research work. His collected works Yang Su Ji that has been published recently is a masterpiece of its kind.
