%X The forest areas with a poor population,a laggard productivity and a lower level of economic development is charged with both the economic development and the ecological protection.The paper discusses the necessity of the ecological compensation for the sustainable development of economy in forest areas.And the problems in developing the economy and protecting the environment in Shennongjia are analyzed and the countermeasures are advanced.
