%X In this paper it is pointed out that construction the great water transfer project from south to north along the planned middle route and application water-saving agriculture are two strategies for solving the serious water shortage problem in North China Plain.The middle route of long distant water transfer from Changjiang River Basin will supply water to North China Plain that will promote the development of new industry and sustainable development of agriculture and economy in this area.
