%X In this paper, on the basis of the situation of the Lower Liaohe Plain, the knowledge base for the agroecological pattern of multiple cropping is built by using the expert system development tool. The procedures for building the knowledge base of expert system are put forward. They include knowledge acquisition, knowledge expression, making codes, and verification. The building of the knowledge base can transfer the expertise and the domain experts' experiences on multiple cropping to the agricultural policy makers in an acceptable fashion, thus improving the automation and scientism of agricultural policy making.
