%X Panax notoginseng cells are cultured in 5L inner-loop and outer-loop airlift bioreactors. Total saponin content of the cultured cells in outer-loop airlift reactor is about 9.4%, the content of polysaccharide is 13%. Sucrose-cell conversion efficiency is 23.3%, and suerosesaponin conversion efficiency is 2.2%: Total saponin content of the cells cultured in innerloop airlift reactor is 2.6%, the content of polysaccharide is 24%. sucrosecell conversion efficiency is 25%, sucrose-saponin conversion efficiency is 0.65%. We can conclude from the above results that airlift bioreactor is suitable for large scale cultivation of P. notoginseng cells, But the slow growth of the cells needs to be further studied.
