%X The water inflow to the Minqin basin from the Shiyanghe River has been declining year by year,giving rise to continuous extravagant exploitation of groundwater,which are resulting in the deterioration of the environment,desertification and abandoning of farmland.Water shortage has already severely restricted the development of oasis agriculture.Moreover,irrational water resources regime,out of date irrigation methods and industrial structure and so on contribute to the waste of water.To reform the current water management method,improve irrigation canal and on-field facilities,select drought-resistant crop varieties,extend modern irrigation technology and alter the present society into water-saving one are the only way to carry out the sustainable development strategy.
