%X The characteristics of nitrogen and ash content of 37 species of plant on desert steppe, Inner Mongolia was reported in this paper. These results show that the Si (1.019%) and ash (12.85%) contents on desert steppe are higher than on typical and meadow steppa, but its N (2.16%) content is lower than typical and meadow steppe. The determination of the content of chemical elements indicated zonal characteristics from east to west in Inner Mongolia steppe zone.
