In recent years, much progress of proline research has been achieved on its synthesis and metabolism, its content in plants affected by osmotic stress and ABA, the important enzymes in its synthesis and metabolism, its location and transportation in plant cells and its relationship with osmotic tolerance of plants. Such aspects were reviewed in this paper. %K
