The development of excess pore water pressure in sandy silt and medium sand covered by clay layer under simulated earthquake excitations, and their consolidation behavior shortly after the simulated earthquake excitations are studied. The development mechanism of excess pore water pressure in saturated sandy silt covered by clay layer is analyzed.
