The model is used to study the stability of 3# dam foundation of the left power house of the Three Georges Project and the failure mode of power house. A rule for estimating safety factor of dam foundation in terms of strength reservation is proposed based on the results of the 3D finite element analyses. For 3# dam foundation,the suggested safety factor is about 3.5 based on the computation results,which also confirms the safety of power house. %K rock mechanics %K 3D model based on real attitude %K deep sliding %K safety factor %K dam foundation
