%X On the basis of in-situ observation and laboratory simulation,a top coal caving mechanic model was established according to the problems remained in top coal caving workface.The lnagnitude of load on the suppor canopy is dctermincd by key block mechanic and the force which acts the support shield is analysed by particle medium mechanic.A new method and full equations which estimate suitable support capacities are given in this paper.
