%X The failure mechanism at crown of Yangjiayu tunnel is studied. The results show that, because there is a cavity between lining and surrounding rock at crown, negative moment at crown is produced by horizontal swelling pressure, and that tensile failure at outer edge of lining and compression failure at inner edge of lining at crown are caused by the negative moment.
