%X Underground water should not be ignored in slope computation and design, but its mechanical functions are not always clear in different conditions. Slope rockmass is classified into three types: water-penetration rockmass, water-proof rockmass and compound rockmass. The different functions of underground water, the different methods to describe the functions of underground water and possible problems are discussed.
