%X In design and construction works of soft foundation treatment for the intercepting ditch of sewage in the third-stage regulation works of the Nanjing Inner Qinhuai River,the technique of timber-pile composite foundation is successfully used to solve the problem of building special structure on soft soils with high coefficient of compressibility in ancient riverbed. This technique is proved to be reliable,economical and efficient. The problems of construction,bearing capacity in vertical and horizontal directions and settlement of timber-pile composite foundation are analyzed and solved.
