%X The basic modes of heat transfer process relevant to hot dry rock geothermal studies are conduction and convection. Convection is heat transmission from the rock to the water flow. An experimental study of hydrothermal properties of rock fractures is conducted by heating the rock and forcing the water circulation through the rock fractures. A total of 78 experimental data are obtained for various temperature and flow rate conditions. The experimental results show that the traditional equations of heat convection overestimate the heat transmission in rock fractures. Based on experimental results, convective heat transfer coefficient can be expressed as N u =C1(PKG-*5e )C2
