%X An engineering example is introduced,which applies prefabricated strip to treat the deep silt with dredger-reclaimed sand as load in Zhanjiang reclamation project. With careful monitoring, considering the accordance of the construction schedule and the loading speed, the reclaiming process is integrated with the treatment of soft soil in this case. The investment is therefore decreased and the term of works is shorten. The result of the long-term settlement observation shows that the degree of consolidation of the 13-meter-thick silt is above 80% at the end of the first two years, which indicates that the method can increase the consolidation speed.
