%X In order to monitor the large caves under the slope of a hydroelectric stationduring their excavation,a new monitoring method is put forward in this paper.The char-acteristics of the new monitoring method and eight successful forecasts with the methodfor the roof falls and surrounding rock collapses of the caves during construction are presented in details.
