%X Based on the geological simplification of the upstream lockhead foundation of the shiplift of the Three Gorges Project and the choice of the most disadvantageous section of the structure and foundation, several different schemes with and without reinforcement are analyzed and compared by use of two-dimensional elasto-plastic FEM. Finally, the most advantageous reinforcement scheme is recommended.
