%X At least three supercontinental cycles with assembly and breakup are documented for the Precambrian continental blocks. As demonstrated by more and more regional geological research of the world, the plate tectonics has been operated since the Neoarchean. The tectonic assembly and formation of supercontinents were commonly associated with the diachronous development of orogenic belts, whereas the breakup episodes were characterized by the rapid occurrences of continental rift, anorogenic granites and large mafic igneous province. The widespread regional geological studies demonstrate that the geological and tectonic evolution of North China Block(NCB) can be divided into some distinct stages. It mainly finished its cratonization in the Neoarchean through accretionary and collisional orogenies, rather than simply homogeneous crustal growth. The NCB underwent extensive break up at the end of the Neoarchean(2.50~2.40Ga), followed by tectonothermal reworking along its continental margins in the late Paleoproterozoic(2.20~1.90Ga). The second breakup episode occurred in the NCB at about 1.85~1.70Ga. The late Mesoproterozoic orogenic belt along the southern margin of NCB led to the finial assembly of NCB with Rodian. As indicated by the regional tectonic correlation, the NCB has close geological tectonic relation in the Precambrian with the Baltica, Eastern Antarctica, Southern India, South America continental blocks.
