%X The optimum variable selecting method on the forest volume quantitative estimation based on RS and GIS through the principle of least square is studied. The law of the variable selection on forest volume estimation is analyzed in detail by means of the real example, at the same time the predicting potentiality of forest volume through LS estimation is also discussed. The method has some guiding significances for the practical job.
