%X In this paper,the concept of the Client/Server computer is introduced first.Then it presents three major impact of the Client/Server model on the information technology in the 1990s:(1)It promotes the development of the distributed systems;(2)It provides a good solution for the interlink and interoperation of the het erogeneous systems;(3)It can better meet the requirements of the current on-line transaction processing(OLTP)systems.Finally,the importance of introducing Client/Server in to the design and creation of information systems in the 1990s is emphasized.
