Chatter can be suppressed, when the velocity of the wheel or workpiece is changed regularly during plunge and length grinding, the suppression effect derived by altering the wheel velocity is better. The main cause of producing chatter in the length grinding is still the regenerative effect. The reason of suppressing the chatter under the condition of changing the grinding speed is that altering the speed during grinding can change the twinkling speed ratio between wheel and workpiece, reduce the average grinding force and the contact stiffness between the wheel and workpiece. As a result, the coefficient of increasing the chatter can be made less, and the stability of the system increased. %K chatter %K grinding at altering velocity %K contact stiffness
