%X As a key part playing a significant role in ITS, ATMS is a hot field attracting intensive research recently. System hierarchies of ITS and ATMS are discussed in the paper from different viewpoints, then some characters of the future ATMS are given. Besides, the current situations of fundamental theory, key technology and implementation are analyzed briefly. Based upon above, some aspects of the most essential fundamental theory supporting future ATMS are presented in the paper.
