%X Two Rugate filters for compensating gain narrowing are designed separately based on the gain characteristics of Ti: sapphire amplifier and Nd: glass amplifier. The Gauss spectral shaping function is selected as the compensation modulation function. Characteristic matrix method is used to analyse the spectral response of the Rugate filter approximately. Amplification using Rugate filter spectral compensation is analysed numerically. Results show that they satisfy the compensation requirements well and can be used as the spectral compensation filters.
