%X According to the theory of separation and reconstruction of wind field, the Q vector is separated accordingly in limited area using the approach of harmonic-cosine series expansion. The rotational and divergent components of Q vector are introduced into diagnosing weather systems as an improvement in the traditional Q vector analyses. Through a case study of a torrential rain event, potential advantages of the improved Q analyses approach can be seen in dynamic identification of both the location and the position of heavy rain centers.
