%X Employing the weakly nonlinear method and perturbation method, the evolution ofthe amplitude of Rossby waves when the topography slowly changes is studied. AKdV equation with a forcing term governing this evolution is obtained from the quasi-geostrophic vorticity equation, and the forcing term is induced by the slowly changing topography.
