%X Large magnetostrictions of -1300 and +1100 ppm have been obtained in our Fe85Ga15ribbon samples. This was attributed to the shape anisotropy of ri bbon and the existence of Ga atom clusters with preferential orientation in the melt-spun Fe85Ga15 alloys. A small increase of magnetostriction with increasing temperature w as observed between 163 and 321K. However, at higher temperatures, the magnetost riction increases sharply with increasing temperature.
