%X Much stronger blue emission have been observed in phosphate non-crystals at room temperature,co-doped with Yb3+ and Tm3+ when excited into the Yb3+ 2F7/2 state and the excited states of Tm3+ at 966nm by laser diode.Energy transfer and back transfer between the two rare earth ions,participation of phonons were demonstrated to be responsible for the upconversion process.
