%X By making use of the "ultrasonic pulse echo overlap technique", the second and third oder elastic modulus of fused quartz had been measured. From the series expansion of strain energy, where the coefficients are expressed by the second, third, fourth order elastic modulus etc., the ultrasonic equation of state for isotropic fused quartz is derived. This equation of state fit the P-V data measured by Bridgman quite well.
