%X The field structure of resonance absorption and density profile steepening in laser plasmas is studied by means of a new analytical method. The resulting absorption coefficients can be expressed by elementary functions, and are in good agreement with numerical calculations. In addition, the analytic calculations for steady state, steepened density profile are also well consistent with the results obtained by using microwave plasma experiments and numerical simulation.
