%X Using optical method the retrograde velocities of vacuum arcs in magnetic fields were measured as a function of the cathode temperature for Cu, Al and 316 stainless steel used as the cathode material. It was found that with increasing the cathode temperature the arc velocity decreases. The experimentally measured temperature dependence of retrograde velocity of vacuum arcs can be explained by the ion jet model for retrograde motion of vacuum arcs.
