The results showed that a remarkable salt accumulation occured in surface soils after tobacco leaves were harvested. Total salt concentration reached up to 4.17 g/kg, near the intensely salinized soil. Higher salt accumulation in surface soil occured in tobacco-rice rotation than in tobacco dryland. Moreover, the highest total salt amount of surface soil in tobacco-rice rotation fields happened in Hengyang, and followed by Yongzhou and Chenzhou. In addition, NO3-, SO42-, Ca2+ and K+ consisted of main ions in surface soils in the tobacco-rice rotation fields, which accounted for 95.21% of total salt amount. %K Hunan %K Tobacco field %K Total salt %K Salt accumulation in surface soil %K Composition of ions
