%X There is large natural gas resource in Junggar basin, however, the gas exploration is still at the early phase. 15.12% of the discovered rate and 3.48% of the proved rate indicates the Junggar basin has good potential for gas exploration. It is proved that the main source rocks of Junggar basin include Jiamuhe formation, Fencheng formation in lower Permian, Wuerhe formation, Lucaogou formation in upper Permian, Badaowan formation in lower Jurassic, and Xishanyao formation in middle Jurassic. And most gas is highly-matured humic gas. The basin has multiple reservoir-seal combination, reservoir bed distributed in the formations from Carboniferous to Tertiary. The upper Triassic and lower Jurassic are regional capping beds and almost cover the whole basin. The gas pools and gas ventpoints mainly distribute on the positive structural units which is over source rock, such as the northwest margin and south margin of basin, hinterland and east margin. The future major gas exploration region and stratum include the lower Tertiary in the second and third row of south margin structural belt. Permian in northwest margin, Carboniferous-Permian in Mosuowan uplift.
