%X In recent years, the processing of Chinese material medica has been theoretically studied in combination with the production of prepared drugs in pieces, and a series of processing techniques and drug quality criteria have thus been established. This paper reviews these achievements and makes some proposals for the future development in terms of methodological research, technical platform building, and the research model integrating scientific research and production, which takes enterprises as the main body. It also points out that processing Chinese material medica will develop not only as a bridge to the traditional pharmaceutical techniques for Chinese material medica, but also as an independent subject.
