%X To interpret the scientific connotation of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) via development of new theories and modern techniques is a key task for the TCM modernization. Chemical proteomics studies and detects proteomes with specific small chemical molecules that interact with target proteins. This paper reviews the main techniques of chemical proteomics and their application in the research of active ingredients, target proteins, synergistic mechanisms and drug discoveries of TCM. Chemical proteomics provides new ideas for the TCM modernization, which may help to reveal the essential principals of TCM at the molecular level, and thus facilitate the new drug discovery of TCM, the inheritance and development of TCM theories.
