%X This study was aimed to investigate some details of the education of Kampo in medical colleges in Japan, including the purpose, idea, target, course setting, content, teaching methods, and the using of textbooks. We accessed to network information from the official webpage of 80 Japanese medical colleges. Then, we consulted every college by sending mail. The results showed that purposes of the Japanese government who required that medical colleges and universities of Kampo medicine courses are to let students accept the holism of traditional medicine, and to guide medical students to recognize and correct application of Kampo medicine. Courses for colleges of pharmacy students and for medical school students are different. Textbooks used by all medical schools are not uniform. But there are some general characters, such as the importance of studying the basic theory of Kampo medicine, attached to the western medicine combined, and the importance of medical practice and practice. It was concluded that at the initial stage, the characteristics of Japanese Kampo medicine education are the importance of studying the basic theory of Kampo medicine and attached to the western medicine combined. Moreover, they have started to further develop Kampo medicine education. And the viewpoints deserve our attention and thinking.
