%X The ultimate goal of the GAP of Chinese medicinal materials results in guaranteeing the safety, effectiveness, stability and controllability of the quality of them. As there exists close relationship between the secondary metabolism of medicinal plants and the quality of botanicals, it is of great significance in the control of the quality of botanicals to explore those factors that may exert enfluence on the secondary metabolism of medicinal plants and regulate and control them in production. This article expounds the relationship between the secondary metabolism of medicinal plants and the quality of botanicals, enumerates those factors that may bring impact on the secondary metabolism of medicinal plants and discusses how to regulate and control the secondary metabolism of medicinal plants in the construction of GAP bases of Chinese medicinal crops.
