%X Epoxy resin filled with hollow glass bead (HGB) composite material was prepared and simple-supported impact test of this kind of material were carried out to investigate impact toughness of the composite material with different contents of HGB, and impact fracture cross section morphology was observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). Experimental results indicate that the impact toughness of the composite material reaches the minimum when HGB content is 2%, therefore its impact resistance is the worst then. Impact toughness of the composite material increases with HGB augmentation when its content is higher 2%. On the fracture cross section HGB presents following three failure modes: extraction from its matrix, cross-rupture and smash, while the cross-rupturing is the primary mode of failure. Above experimental findings may provide a reference for study and application of this kind of composite material.
