%X A type of innovative reinforced sandwich composite as grooved perforation sandwich (GPS) was fabricated by vacuum infusion molding process (VIMP). The interfacial structure between face and core of the sandwich is innovative. Mechanical properties such as the face tension properties, the shear and flatwise compression properties of the sandwich composite were investigated experimentally. Results show that the shear and flatwise compression properties of GPS are enhanced by the resin column in tests. The innovative sandwich beams with different span-thickness ratio were experimentally studied by three-point and four- point bending test. The typical failure mode and mechanism of innovative sandwich specimen were observed and investigated. The shear properties of grooved perforation sandwich are obtained by Mori-Tanaka method based on Eshelby theory of inclusions,. The flexural stiffness and ultimate bearing capacity of sandwich composites were studied by classical sandwich beam theory and non-linear finite element modeling. Results of theoretical analysis are rather in agreement with the test results.
