%X For the process of residual stresses measurement, strains induced by drilling have been investigated. Effect of residual stress level on the induced strains has been studied under uniaxial state of stress. The results show that the induced strains are influenced to certain extent by drilling technique, heat treatment of material and residual stress level. When the uniaxial compressive(residual)stress approaches to a critical value, the drilling induced strains decrease to zero.
