%X Four mechanisms of fatigue crack closure,crack closure parameters and their measurements are discussed and commented on the basis of an introduction to the fatigue crack closure phenomenon.The effects of materials,stress ratios,specimen geometries,enviroments and load spectrum on the behaviors of fatigue crack closure are extensively discussed.The cur- rent situation and the problems remained to be solved hereafter in this field are discussed as well.
