%X From 2010 to 2011,four sampling surveys were conducted in the new pearl oyster culture zone in Yingpan,Beihai City in sequence of seasons,to investigate the species and distribution of phytoplankton.The result indicated that the above-mentioned marine area harboured 82 species of phytoplankton falling into 36 genera,Leptocylindrus dominant in spring,Thalassiosira in summer,Chaetoceros in autumn,Nitzschia and Thalassiosira dominant in winter.Each season,phytoplankton quantity in each station ranged 2.8×104-9.6×104 cells/L,on the same order of magnitude;diversity indices were 2.54-2.94;evenness indices were 0.47-0.55,water quality was in a state of slight pollution.Biomass of bait in the new pearl oyster culture zone was on the low side as a programmed pearl oyster culture zone,which needs to be taken into consideration.
