%X In the study, seven Anabaena strains were isolated and purified from lakes Dianchi and Erhai in the years 2004, 2005 and 2006. The growth character of the seven strains was shown with the studies on their growth, pigment contents and photosynthetic efficiency. The results showed that all strains tested grew well during the experiment. But the growth was different among strains and the growth dominance of the seven strains in the laboratory culture was different dramatically from it in field. The obvious correction was also found between growth and photosynthetic pigments. In addition, Yield, rETRmax and Alpha were all high during the experiment to hold effective photosynthesis to support the strain growth. This study provided some basic information and indicated significant ecological and physiological meanings for further researches.
